It would be recalled that not too long ago, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mallam Nasir El-Rufa'i, announced the decision of the government to withdraw all certificate of occupancy from owners of land in Abuja and issue new ones.

The property for sale business in Abuja which before now was experiencing "boom" has now declined, adding that some property for sale agents were contemplating leaving the job due to the poor situation.

Buyers of land and houses in Abuja have been skeptical since the withdrawal of C of O for the fear that such property for sale might not be genuine or could fail to scale through the re-certification process of the ministry.

The re-certification process, although well intended, has created unexpected problem in the property industry because land being certified by the MFCT, Cadastral Land Registry are not published. Hence ignorance and uncertainty now pervade the property for sale industry in Abuja.
